TCL 20 Pro 5G looks premium due to its glass back and aluminum frame. The device is available in stunning Moondust Gray, and Marine Blue. And nicely, the slightly curved 6.67-inch AMOLED screen isn’t just a beauty — it makes the phone more comfortable to hold. The phone is also deceptively light at 190 grams for its size.
As the moniker suggests, the phone's star is its massive 6.67-inch AMOLED display (2400 x 1080 pixels). TCL also has quite a bit of experience in the display tech space, and this expertise has resulted in the 20 Pro having a display that's able to put out some vivid colors, but also deep blacks and contrast that'll be genuinely impressive. It features HDR10+ support, and the standard 60Hz refresh refresh rate might not be the highest we've observed but is likely fine and should be adequate for most users. The also-handy NXTVISION tech from TCL is here too, boosting color accuracy and sharpness — and, in this case, real-time brightness too. It boasts a whopping 256GB of native storage, which is more than enough to cover most users, and a fantastic deal. One negative point we should note is the lack of expandable storage, which may indeed be an ace up the sleeve of some users and, with storage full, we will not have much choice to deal with that.
What’s more, TCL 20 Pro has a quad-camera setup on the back with a 48MP primary sensor paired with a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 5MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. In perfect lighting, the camera performs decently, with fairly well-shot bright shots by the main sensor. Like other ultra-wide lenses, it lets you frame more of your scene, but it does have some distortion towards the edges. Macro is a nice bonus but trends novelty, not necessity. The camera does have a bit of trouble with low-light images, which can be noisy and lack detail. The front-facing 32MP camera is average but is prone to a little overexposure under bright light.
Packing a 4,500mAh battery, the TCL 20 Pro has enough battery to get you through most days, depending on how much you use your phone. Powering the device is a 4,000 mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging, again not the fastest option in market but gets the job done. It also supports wireless charging, a nice touch at this price point. It uses TCL's custom UI over Android 11. The software is clean, easy to navigate and has minimal bloatware. It’s also a plus that TCL promised regular software updates, therefore, there is no need to worry that you are not using the latest software, you will be notified on the top of the phone messages if there are any updates.
Overall, the TCL 20 Pro is a well-rounded and polished mid-range smartphone offering from the company that excels in display, design and battery life. It’s not the best-performing device in its price range, decorated with a few notable perks. The TCL 20 Pro is a phones for multimedia, and if you want nice display, you cannot go wrong with this.
