Review

Meizu mBlu 21 comes powered by the UNISOC T606 processor, whose clock speed goes up to 1.6 GHz. Fairly sufficient for general tasks, this chipset will also be good to go for light gaming and multitasking scenarios. Compared to its predecessor, mBlu 20, there is a notable improvement in speed and heat dissipation for prolonged use.

Similar to iPhone, mBlu 21 has a sleek design with straight lines and little disruption from the basic black colour that has been popular with most smart phones today. On the other hand, the inches’ big screen is 6.79 big with HD+ resolutions of 720×1640 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. While the resolution is not as good as some competitors boast at similar price points with Full HD displays, it is quite sufficient to give decent clarity for most users.

The IPS LCD panel has quite decent colors and above-average viewing angles; still, it may be a notch lower in comparison with the premium ones coming from Xiaomi or Samsung. Nevertheless, for general purposes-which is mostly browsing and video-watching-it will serve really well.

The main striking feature of mBlu 21 is the great battery life. There is a big 4,900mAh battery in this device, with support for fast charging. It should last two days easily on moderate usage with efficient power management by both hardware and software optimizations-a great deal for those individuals who use their smartphones during busy days without having the chance to charge them.

Photography enthusiasts will probably appreciate the dual-camera system on the back of mBlu 21: the main camera features a resolution of 13MP, while being accompanied by a secondary depth sensor that assists in portrait shots with bokeh effects. The camera software includes various modes, from portrait to night mode, which enhance usability in different conditions.

It is installed with an 8MP front camera for taking selfies and video calls, though it may not match up with the high-megapixel primary camera of flagship models capable of capturing images with advanced features such as optical zoom or multi-camera capabilities. But for general photography, it takes sufficiently good pictures.

Priced as an affordable smartphone under $200, or SAR 800-1,000, Meizu mBlu 21 has been pitted squarely against budget variants from Realme and Xiaomi. At its price, it has opened its doors to the mass market in pursuit of strong performance without the premium price tag.

Despite the many positive points, there are quite a few areas where mBlu 21 falls short. The HD+ resolution on this phone might be acceptable for most users, but they may feel a pinch of disappointment once they compare it with full HD competitors. Although able to take decent photos, it may struggle in low-light conditions compared to more expensive alternatives equipped with superior sensors. In markets dominated by established brands like Samsung or Apple, Meizu may face challenges to gain consumer trust despite solid products.

In the end, Meizu mBlu 21 is indeed an interesting proposal in the budget smartphone segment, with its modern design, robust performance specifications, great battery life, and competitive pricing structure ready to meet consumer needs without compromising on essential features.
