iPhone Duo

Review

The 7.6-inch workspace represents the biggest strength of the iPhone Duo, transforming a compact phone into a workspace. Measuring in at 254 grams, it is heavier than many flagships and the thickness is a deep 5.2mm when opened, 11.3mm when closed. The body is thin and flatted with a good profile, but is still heavy to hold. The 5.4" outer display is handy for speedy jobs. Text and motion are crisp on the inner screen's 430-ppi resolution, 120Hz ProMotion and 3,000-nit top brightness for outdoor viewing, thanks to Nano-texture controls which reduce glare. Apple also claims better finish means there are less creases visible, but they are not completely eliminated.

Duo is still equipped with the same chip generation as the iPhone 18 Pro variants with the A20 Pro. The custom vapor chamber that can help dissipate heat from the processor contributes to sustained performance as much as 35 percent faster than iPhone 17 Pro, according to Apple. Those figures are not necessarily independent benchmark numbers, but the cooling hardware does solve a real issue for thin foldables – keeping the speed high for long gaming sessions, multi-tasking and processing AI off-device. iOS 27 leverages the open screen in Split View by providing two windows of the same app and app pairs that are saved. They are useful only if third-party applications are optimised.

Two 48MP rear cameras support regular and ultra-wide shooting, with optical quality 2X shooting to be had through the key camera, macro mode, and as much as 10X digital zoom. Low-light photography is aided by main camera stabilization and fast f1.6 lens, while the main camera 4K Dolby Vision recording increases to 120fps in low-light situations. There is no long-range telephoto lens dedicated to the lens. Duo Preview and rear-camera selfies are genuinely useful foldable-specific additions; the under-display inner camera is more suited to video calls than demanding selfies.

Titanium, Ceramic Shield 2, IP68 protection, and hinge engineering provide reassurance, even though repairs might be costly. The phone does not support any SIMs and those who use physical card will need to confirm their operator's compatibility before making the leap to eSIM. In summary, iPhone Duo is a device with unparalleled Apple silicon power, excellent screen brightness, and flexible software that comes at an attractive premium, but with trade-offs to consider including its heft, camera capabilities, and foldable screen.
