Review

In nearly all ways, Xiaomi Poco F7 Pro is way better than the old Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro, making it a strong mid-flagship phone. The battery got better, now at 6000mAh, and this lets it last about 50% longer on a charge than the old one (28:39 hours instead of 19:08 hours when used). This bigger battery will enable the phone to last without recharging for a whole day of heavy use which is what users want today.

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is a leap ahead of the F6 Pro’s Gen 2 chipset. Benchmark results show a 27% increase in AnTuTu scores (around 2,000,000), while GeekBench 6 single-core tests reflect a 9% increase in performance. Eight-core CPU and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with a speed of 4800 MHz in a four-channel configuration ensure seamless multitasking and game performance. Powered by an Adreno 750 GPU clock speed of a maximum of 1000 MHz, heavy-duty graph processing is a walk in the park, thus positioning Xiaomi Poco F7 Pro as an excellent phone for mobile gamers and power users.

Another strong point of Xiaomi Poco F7 Pro is its superb screen. This screen has a 1440p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 1478 nits in brightness which is 23% greater than the F6 Pro. With its Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, watching programs on TV becomes superior because of stronger contrast and color shades. Screen protection through Gorilla Glass 7i ensures durability in the form of drop and scratch resistance.

Design-wise, the IP68 water and dust-resistance certification is a major advantage over most of the competition, and even recent Poco devices, giving buyers a sense of security in different surroundings. Build quality of the device, with glass back and aluminum build, is top-class and durable, although it is slightly heavier at 206 grams.

The camera is good but not perfect. The 50MP main camera with OIS takes sharp and stable shots, especially during the day. The 8MP ultrawide is disappointing, with many claiming that it’s worse compared to ultrawide cameras found in some Poco phones like Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC. It is a good video camera boasting 8K video recording and a number of slow-motion modes at high speeds, so it will be of use to creators.

Connectivity options are current and include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless and LHDC 5, NFC, and an infrared port. A 3.5mm headphone port is absent, so wireless audio or USB-C adapters will need to be used. Stereo speakers are integrated and provide good sound quality, with 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio supported.

Charging is fast and efficient at 90W through wire, capable of charging that large battery in less than half an hour, but falling short of Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro’s 120W charging. It’s a good compromise, however, in exchange for the larger battery size.

Disadvantages are less-than-excellent ultrawide camera capabilities compared to a few of its predecessors, non-expandable storage, and not having a headphone jack. While the 90W charging is speedy, it is also not the speediest in their class. Some will find the phone slightly heavier.
