The A18 chip in iPhone 16 Plus provides 6 CPU cores, 5 GPU cores and 16 neural cores. There is a major bump in speed when you compare it with the A16 chip in iPhone 15 Plus. This allows the phone to function smoothly, start apps quickly and manage both advanced games and demanding artificial intelligence work.
The two lenses on the back are now improved, a 48MP Fusion and a new 12MP Ultra-Wide. With a 2x zoom function, the 48MP camera makes sure the pictures are bright and nicely framed. The Ultra-Wide camera now has autofocus and a bigger opening, catching up to 2.6 times more light, making close-ups sharp and low-light photos better.
Camera Control lets you change exposure, depth, and zoom fast with finger moves, making it quick to get the right shot. Also, spatial capture lets you take 3D photos and videos, viewed on Apple Vision Pro for a new, deep way to see photos.
Audio Mix tech is great for video by letting you focus or raise voices in clips, perfect for vloggers and content makers who need top sound without big setups.
iPhone 16 Plus features a 6.7-inch LTPS OLED screen, offers 2796 x 1290 pixels and runs at 60Hz refresh rate. You’ll find that the screen on iPhone 16 Plus is brighter than iPhone 15 Plus, suitable for sunny locations and maintains vivid colors and dark shades.

The rear design has shifted to a vertical camera module housed in a pill-shaped enclosure, a departure from the previous model’s square camera block. This design choice not only updates the phone’s aesthetics but also facilitates landscape mode spatial video recording. There are new buttons, an Action and a Camera Button, for more ways to use the phone.
The battery is a bit bigger at 4,674 mAh, up from 4,383 mAh in iPhone 15 Plus. With the A18 chip and iOS 18, the battery lasts long. Tests show nearly 19 hours of active use, over 23 hours for videos, and 19 hours of web use on Wi-Fi.
Charging is the same as before, with up to 27W fast and MagSafe wireless charging. It now has a USB-C port, fitting more chargers and extras.
Despite its strengths, iPhone 16 Plus has some weak spots. The refresh rate is still 60Hz, less fluid than the 120Hz in Pro models and some Android phones. The camera, though better, is much like the old one, relying more on software and AI to stand out.
