Review

With iPhone 15 Pro, Apple has demonstrated their ultimate smartphone technology which looks good and works perfectly. This phone, iPhone 15 Pro, is the seventeenth-generation flagship and follows the iPhone 14 Pro. It brings a range of improvements that boost performance, looks and how the phone works. It is clear from the titanium shell, the A17 Pro chip inside and many other features that Apple always aims to lead with every new iPhone.

The Super Retina XDR 6.1-inch display remains the best. The 2556 x 1179 pixels at 460 ppi provide clear, rich visuals with deep blacks and best-in-class color accuracy through P3 wide color gamut and True Tone. ProMotion adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz means silky-smooth animation and responsiveness, signature features when playing video games and scrolling. The 2000 nits outdoor peak brightness of the display is among the highest out there, so it is easy to use even when under bright lights. The Always-On display and the incorporation of Dynamic Island provide convenience at no cost to battery life.

With the A17 Pro chip, iPhone 15 Pro makes a big leap from the A16 Bionic of iPhone 14 Pro. The 3nm technology adds more efficiency and performance with higher CPU and GPU speed while using less power. The 6-core CPU (2 high-performance and 4 efficiency cores) and 6-core GPU enhance multitasking, gaming, and graphics. The 16-core Neural Engine makes AI and machine learning processing faster, improving the processing of images, augmented reality, and system response. The 8GB LPDDR5 RAM supports smooth multitasking and future-proofs the device for demanding apps.

iPhone 15 Pro camera system is intended for professionals and everyday users. The 48MP primary sensor with large 1/1.28" format delivers greater lighting to enhance low-light images and detail. With the quad-pixel technology, four pixels work as one, making each photo clearer and with reduced graininess. The 12MP ultra-wide camera can take wide-angle photos, with the f/2.2 aperture, while the telephoto provides 3x optical zoom, meaning it’s better than the 2x zoom of the 14 Pro. Main and telephoto cameras have sensor-shift optical image stabilization to reduce blur on video and images. Apple’s Photonic Engine adds further enhancement to the images using advanced computational photography techniques. The features of the video are ProRes recording and cinematic mode to support professional-level video creation.

Despite the new titanium frame and better performance, the battery life of the current model is retained on iPhone 15 Pro. Apple projects the phone to provide up to 23 hours of video play and up to 75 hours of audio play. The change to USB-C charging is an upgrade, with faster transfer speed and easy charging. There is compatibility with fast charging to 50 percent charge in approximately 30 minutes using an appropriate charger. There is still support for wireless charging and MagSafe accessories to provide for an easy charging system.

For all of the improvements on iPhone 15 Pro, there are some areas where there is little change. The battery life is equal to iPhone 14 Pro, so those who are expecting more battery power may not notice much of an increase. The 3x telephoto is short of the 5x on iPhone 15 Pro Max, so those expecting to use long-range photography may find it disappointing. The absence of Touch ID may also be disappointing to those who are used to fingerprint scanning. The higher price may also place it out of range for some users.
