The OnePlus 13 is one of the best this year, bringing monstrous power, a stunning display, and knockout battery life. Running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Ultimate chip (otherwise known as the "Snapdragon 8 Supreme" in some markets) makes this phone a powerhouse, scoring just over 3.1 million points in AnTuTu benchmarks. Thanks to OnePlus own “E-Sports Dedicated Display Engine”, which improves frame interpolations (with none of the overheating problems found on most competing devices), game players will love that it can still run Genshin Impact at 120fps.
First of all, the 6.82-inch, 2K “Oriental Screen” is one of the finest displays to grace any smartphone today. It has 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 4500-nit peak brightness and DisplayMate A++ certification and was developed with BOE. The “Sunlight Display” feature automatically adjusts the brightness to a comfortable level under the sunniest conditions, and it's also packed with 2160Hz PWM dimming and low-blue-light technology to make your eyes comfortable. Also, the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner seems to work just fine even with wet hands, a minor but very much convenient feature.
In addition, photography is a frontier in which another triple camera system shines, including a 50MP Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The cases are great — solid details, vibrant colors and great low-light capabilities. “Shadowless Snap” mode powered by AI ensures crisp action shots, and the XPAN film filter adds a cinematographic touch. But some users report that ultra-wide-to-macro switch can be a little jarring and while the camera is great, it falls just behind the best from Apple or Samsung in all scenarios.
What is more, the software-wise, you get a smooth, feature-rich experience with ColorOS 15 on top of Android 14 with AI-assisted optimizations for battery, performance, and photography. The volume rocker and iconic three-stage alert slider can still be found on the side, and you get a fine X-axis linear motor for tactile feedback. That being said, a few users have reported that they've encountered some minor software bugs, like Wi-Fi dropouts or minor UI stutters, that will hopefully be fixed in the future.
There is one thing to consider, the OnePlus 13 is not perfect, the 220g weight makes it one of the heaviest phones, and the large camera bump results in some wobbling when placed flat on a surface. Also the vibration motor is great but doesn't seem to be used to its full potential, especially in gaming contexts.
To sum up, the OnePlus 13 is a brilliant all-rounder flagship, offering up superb performance, a fantastic display and dependable battery life. Though it is playing catch up to Apple and Samsung when it comes to camera enhancement and tying their devices into ecosystems, it is great value, especially following price cuts that now have a 24GB+1TB model of the phone selling for under $700. If you can tolerate its small annoyances, the OnePlus 13 is among the best Android phones of 2025.
