Review

Where previous model used Snapdragon processors and their generally high benchmarks in performance, early reviews are hinting that this new chipset, Mediatek Dimensity 7300X processor, fares relatively well under pressure. Users report smooth multitasking capability and sufficient gaming experiences without significant lag and stuttering, even at higher settings for graphically intensive titles such as Honkai Star: Rail.

It sticks to the philosophy of previous models but refines it for better usability: the external display is bigger at 3.6 inches with a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels, compared to last year’s smaller version the 2024 edition allows for a little more interaction without flipping open the phone. The internal display stays at an impressive 6.9 inches with FHD+ resolution and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz for fluid animations.

In terms of build quality, it is impressive; people have reported that while opening and shutting the phone the hinge feels much better than the earlier versions.

The camera system features dual rear cameras: it includes a primary 50MP wide angle lens and a secondary 13MP ultrawide lens. These specifications offer promise for high quality images, but user feedback indicates inconsistent performance, particularly in low light conditions where images exhibit overprocesses, or appear to lack details. The front camera boasts a healthy 32MP resolution but slightly disappointing with similar issues that were pointed out by users during testing.

The battery life, as with a 4200mAh battery, sometimes can't easily last through a whole day under regular usage scenarios. According to numerous users, they are just able to use their devices extensively from morning till evening only under recharging their phones. Perhaps one of the features that pocket-sized portability has to sacrifice is battery capacity and battery life. It yet supports respectable charging speeds, up to 30W wired for quick top-ups when needed.

Priced at around US$700, Motorola Razr 2024 has a competitive advantage over other foldable devices available in the market, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series. The pricing is strategic to lure those customers who desire innovative designs without digging too deep into their pockets.

Admittedly, while improvements could have been made, especially around the camera, Motorola Razr 2024 accomplishes the mission of stylishness paired with functionality for what has recently become the busiest sector in the smartphones foldable class. These please a targeted audience that is more attracted to its nostalgic flair mixed with a modern twist, though remaining at prices competitive to rivals within the niche of such phone releases.
