Review

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra shines as a smartphone in the sea of mobile devices. Although it was released this year, the device has attracted considerable interest due to the combination of aesthetic credentials and potent functional capabilities. Now, with a price starting at $9999, it's arriving as a top-shelf flagship that will take on staples like iPhone 15 and other high-priced devices.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is a blend of classic styling and all the modern functionality. The phone features a clean and understated form factor, with good balance of its lightweight body with premium build elements. The highlight of the mobile is its industry-first rotating and extendable lens structure that brings a bit of ceremony to the photography experience. The lens smoothly extends when activated, and the mechanical sound adds to the shooting experience. The unique design of a red ring and the logo of XMAGE imaging highlight its image flagship status.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra features next level imaging with advanced camera system. It features a one-inch CMOS sensor mated to the largest F1. 6 physical aperture in such sensors, letting in as much light as possible to produce brighter and sharper photos even in low-light situations. This revolutionary feature, composed of flash capture mode, lets you snap those rare, brief moments faster than ever before. The integrated rotary and adverse lens structure provides enhanced stability and shooting performance, and it's the go-to choice for shooting enthusiasts. Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is powered by a HarmonyOS 4.2 under the hood, which is nice and smooth with a good interface. It has 16GB RAM and comes with storages of 512GB and 1TB. It also supports 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless fast charging, and 20W wireless reverse charging.

Apart from the list of the manufacturer, there are various other practical features in the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra. It is also equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) for fast access door moments and card payment transactions. The phone is marketed as an intelligent device with proximity, gravity, and light sensors which allow it to adjust settings based on the way you are using it. Also, the device features strong voice communication abilities such as satellite phone calls, messaging, and image transfer, greatly surpassing a number of competitors.

Despite all the strengths of the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, it is not without its flaws. Most importantly, the device does not feature a 3D depth-sensing camera, a common addition to many competitor offerings—such as the Mate 60 series and iPhone 15—that improve security when buying with face unlock, and offer greater convenience when operating in a low-light environment. In addition, its short-focus fingerprint sensor unlocks slower and has a smaller recognition area than the ultrasonic fingerprint technology. Finally, benchmark scores indicate that the Kirin 9010 SoC lags behind several other flagship CPUs - something that may frustrate power users.

In brief, Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is a robust flagship phone that shines in design, show, imaging, hardware and extra features. Its standout positives far outweigh the negatives, even though it has some shortcomings especially with regards to security features and performance benchmarks.
