Review

Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the performance of Xiaomi 14 Ultra is outstanding in almost every task. From the benchmarks, it looks like it outperforms most of its rivals, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, mainly in graphics-intensive jobs like gaming. It definitely does multitask well, as one would expect from large RAMs going up to 16GB, thus assuring smooth operation even when running several applications simultaneously.

Undeniably, the camera system on Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the most salient selling point. With a collaboration with Leica, it has an elaborate setup that includes: A 50 MP sensor with a variable aperture of f/1.63 to f/4.0 for exemplary low-light shots. Another 50 MP sensor to cover broad scenes without distortion. Two more 50 MP sensors that each give 3.2x optical zoom and an excellent 5x periscope zoom capability.

All in all, this setup has proven highly capable and allows shooting everything from sweeping landscapes to detailed close-ups, without problems. Image quality is outstanding: photos come out sharp with vibrant color saturation and amazing dynamic range.

Yet, some users have pointed out that while the hardware is top-notch, some software optimization may be off for certain scenarios, such as in low-light conditions, where images can sometimes appear warmer or slightly more blurred compared to competitors like the iPhone series from Apple.

Then there is the display on Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The LTPO AMOLED panel not only looks amazing but also manages to peak at brightness levels as high as 3000 nits, maybe the brightest display in the market today. This makes sure the display remains highly visible even in direct sunlight. The adaptive refresh rate will elevate the user experience whether gaming or scrolling through content, offering fluid motion without costing battery life.

With its huge battery of 5000 mAh, 5300 mAh on the Chinese models, one has enough power to at least last through the day from Xiaomi 14 Ultra with more than a day of light use. And remember that it only takes something like 33 minutes fully loaded via wired connections and wirelessly in about 46 minutes, isn’t it incredible? Despite its robust specifications, there are reviews that show it could work a bit better concerning the battery life for heavy users who do gaming or stream for hours.

The design of Xiaomi 14 Ultra is at once elegant and functional. It features premium build quality with an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass protection on both sides. The curved edges provide a seamless look while enhancing grip comfort during use. However, some users have reported that the phone feels slightly top-heavy due to its extensive camera system.

Finally, we have a great flagship device that packs the latest technology into something that won’t break the bank or isn’t difficult to use. For photography enthusiasts, the standout camera system makes this a great phone, but it performs admirably with every other aspect of smartphone use. However, potential buyers should weigh its strengths against minor drawbacks when considering their next smartphone purchase.
