Nokia G42 has a lightweight and durable polycarbonate body design. The back layer of the device is textured as well, so you can securely grip it and it does not slip. It also offers a ton of great colors to match any style. The IP52 rating means that the G42 is meant to be used every day, with dust and light splashes.

The most interesting feature of the Nokia G42 is its 5000mAh battery, which has impressive endurance. On one charge, reasonable use has the phone easily stretching to a full day or more. With 20W fast charging, you can quickly top it off when you want. It has a 6.56 inches HD+ IPS LCD (720 x 1612 pixels) display. This is neither the best panel in its class, nor does it come close, but you will get bright colors and decent enough brightness, creating an environment that is enough to get absorbed in streaming, browsing or even gaming. The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations feel nice and smooth, making things feel nicer.

Nokia G42 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G SoC under the hood, which is paired with 4GB, or 6GB of RAM. This makes it easy to jump seamlessly back and forth between multiple tasks, launch whatever amount of daily user work — social media, web browsing and light gaming. There’s also support for 5G so you’re future-proofed with faster connectivity as 5G rollouts continue. Storage on the device is 128GB, expandable up to 1TB by a microSD card. Exhibiting huge storage (up to 1TB), there will be enough room for installing different apps, images, videos and other such files.

On the back is a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary camera is competent, capturing good photos with detail and balanced colors in ideal lighting, while the macro and depth sensors help with a more focal range of images. In the front, there is an 8MP snapper to click average selfies and also can be used for video calls. It is loaded with features like Night Mode, AI enhancements, and various shooting modes that let users have fun with their photography. Okay good for the price but not as good as something like flagship quality camera performance.

Nokia G42 ships with the latest clean and easy-to-use Android 13. Nokia has emphasizes on timely updates, so the device will be getting software updates and security patches regularly. A near-stock Android experience keeps the bloatware to a minimum and provides you with a smooth, intuitive interface. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for unlocking. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a vanishing feature in many modern smartphones. There’s dual SIM support and a dedicated microSD slot.

Nokia G42, on the other hand, is a smart phone that packs solid performance, impressive battery life and useful features into an affordable package. Not a jack of all trades, but surely a master of some, it packs all your video needs under one roof. In conclusion, it’s a superb option for a solid durable, 5G offering with minimal software experience for the consumers.
