Alcatel 1 is a tiny, just as large as your plam, and light smartphone which needs your less energy and strength to carry. It is easy to be taken by you in your pocket, therefore, if you want to use it everyday, it is simple to do so. And, it’s no surprise that at this price point, the phone’s 5-inch display has thick bezels. Not winning any beauty contests by a long shot, but practical and functional for its target demographic.
A 5-inch FWVGA display of 854 x 480 pixels is good enough to get by with minor activities like browsing the web, emails or just videos. The resolution isn’t amazing by premium smartphone standards, so don’t expect any vibrant colors or sharp visuals. That said, the display does the job you would expect for its price point and is serviceable for casual applications.
With its MediaTek MT6739 quad-core CPU, you could even be forgiven for thinking the Alcatel 1 was never designed for heavy lifting, not with just 1GB of RAM. It can manage basic apps like social media, messaging and light games, but it struggles with multitasking or heavier apps. This is a little limiting, of course, but internal storage is expandable — up to 32GB via microSD — offering at least a degree of flexibility when it comes to putting pictures, videos or apps on the device.
As far as cameras are concerned, it features a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP selfie camera. These are modest specs, but the cameras at least do decent enough work in good light. The rear cam takes perfectly acceptable snaps that should suffice if all you plan to do is share them on social media or send them to a buddy — but struggles in the low-light department. The front-facing camera is convenient for video chatting and selfies, but don’t plan on getting great, high-quality results. The camera setup is decent but underwhelming at its price tier. It is also can not be ignored by us that the battery of this phone is 2000mAh. Thereby, before you charge, you would better choose the suitable charger. It mentions it takes some time to fill the battery because fast charging is not included. Battery life, for basic use, is decent but unremarkable.
Furthermore, it has Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) — a modified version of Android, designed for less capable (read: entry level) devices. That makes performance on the Alcatel 1’s very basic hardware a bit less gritty. There are also lighter versions of many apps, including Google Maps, Gmail, and YouTube — referred to as Go apps — that use much less storage and data. The software experience is simple and straightforward, making it a good choice for first-time smartphone users or anyone seeking an incredibly no-frills experience.
All in all, Alcatel 1 is still a solid option if you want a less expensive phone or a second phone. Being small in size and light weight program, simple to use makes it a good candidate for light use.
