Introduction

Released in October of 2023, this is not just another contender for the crowded foldable space – this is OnePlus’s declaration of intent to innovations and the new generation of user experiences. First and foremost, the design of the new OnePlus Open removes the boundaries between a smartphone and a tablet, offering a device for those, who already own a flagship smartphone, as well as for the average users who need a portable and highly functional device.

On the first impression, the design of OnePlus Open betrays its sleek professional look. Coming in three striking colors, namely Crimson Shadow, Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black, it boasts a bold design that dares to be different in a sea of smartphones. The phone’s body is swathed in premium material, including a vegan leather back on the black variant, adding more grip and luxuriousness to it. The dimensions are crafted with comfort in mind while using the device both folded and unfolded.

OnePlus Open covers the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with the generous amount of RAM at 16GB, which should keep performance issues well and truly at bay. All in all, this enables seamless multitasking and lag-free operation of resource-intensive applications with ease. In addition, OxygenOS 13.2 runs on top of Android 14 to introduce well-thought-out multitasking features targeted toward its large inner display.

Another feature that has been making waves regarding the device is the use of two screens. The first is 6.31 inch with 2484 x 1116 pixels density and the secondary one opens to be 7.82 inch with 2440 x 2268 pixels density. Both come with LTPO technology, latency is adjustable up to 1-120Hz – it is just the right balance between battery consumption and the visual appeal of the display. This versatility makes OnePlus Open a powerful communication tool but an equally good device for media consumption and productivity.
